SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - When you’re in a rough patch, especially during these hot summer days, taking care of your health is important in all aspects. So, while food pantries work to make sure no one leaves with an empty stomach, MGM Springfield partnered with Friends of the Homeless to keep them feeling fresh on the outside.

MGM Springfield employees packed over 1,500 hygiene kits to help those around our area experiencing homelessness. Western Mass News spoke with their Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement, Jennifer McGrath about what goes into each of these kits, “So we actually work with Friends of the Homeless to decide what is most needed. And they’ll find everything from socks to a washcloth to soap and even floss and toothbrush just because those are the items that are the most highly sought after.”

These kits will not only help those experiencing homelessness get access to basic necessities, but it also allows them to feel more comfortable in and out of shelters during the summer months.
