SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Springfield released updated regulations on food trucks, in part limiting the amount of trucks that can be on any single property.

Set to go into effect on July 1, the regulations permit only two trucks on any single property and they must be at least 500 feet away from any brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Other regulations will primarily impact the owners and operators of the trucks, but they could affect customers’ lunch and dinner breaks.

Food trucks will be limited to working 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. In addition, all trucks must obtain a $125 annual permit through the Department of Public Works.

Food trucks are also not allowed within 100 feet of residential property or a fuel dispenser.

Operators on private property must have written permission from the property owner and comply with the zoning regulations, including a buffer zone from sidewalks and property lines.

Food truck permits must be displayed at all times. They can be obtained from the Springfield DPW’s permit coordinator.
