SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A viral video appeared to show an employee at a McDonald’s in Southbridge contaminating food and officials are now responding.

The video prompted a response from the Southbridge Police Department and health department.

The employees involved have been suspended from their jobs.

The police department says they have received numerous tips from the video and that they are addressing the incident with the board of health and restaurant management.

The health department said prior to this incident that McDonald’s had a history of compliance with food safety and handling regulations.

The Southbridge McDonald’s franchise owners also commented on the matter, saying in part “the actions of these individuals are unacceptable and do not reflect our organization’s food safety standards or values.”

An investigation is ongoing by all departments involved and they are still trying to determine whether the fries were served to the public.
