If you drive through the Forest Park neighborhood, you know “The X.” that busy, tangled intersection of Sumner Avenue, Dickinson Street, and Belmont Avenue.
Tonight, state transportation officials are here — and they want to hear from you. MassDOT is holding a public meeting here at Forest Park Middle School beginning at 6:30 p.m. — laying out plans to completely reconstruct “The X.”
We’re talking about new traffic signals, five-foot bike lanes, wider sidewalks, upgraded bus stops, and major changes to traffic patterns across several blocks. The project stretches more than 3,400 feet along Sumner Avenue, from Churchill Street all the way to Daytona Street, and also covers stretches of Belmont Avenue and Dickinson Street.
The meeting is your chance to ask questions and go on the record with your concerns. Officials said all public comments will be reviewed and considered.
