One injured after house fire in Orange

ORANGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Firefighters in Orange credited a family’s quick thinking after a house fire on Oaklawn Avenue left one person hurt and a home uninhabitable.
Crews were called around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening for flames showing from a second floor window.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire mostly to that room, but smoke damage was left throughout the house. One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Fire crews also found one of the family’s two cats on the first floor and got it out safely.
Firefighters said one child shut the bedroom door, the family called 911, and everyone got out, a move they say likely saved the second floor, if not the entire home.
