Over $11 million going to unpaved roads around western Mass.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - MASSDOT leaders were in Hatfield on Tuesday to announce over $11 million in grants for their Unpaved Roads Program.
The program supports the maintenance of locally owned dirt and gravel roads through grants to dozens of communities.
In this annual round of funding, 48 communities received money to support safer travel, strengthen local infrastructure, and improve access for all.
Hatfield is being awarded over $670,000. Orange, Deerfield, and Monson are also among the awarded communities.
“Every community deserves safe, reliable roads that people can count on to get to work, school and home,” said Gov. Healey. “These grants will help cities and towns make important improvements to local roads that residents, businesses and emergency responders use every day.”
