SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission released a draft plan on Tuesday to help stop serious injuries and death on the road.

The Safe Street Plan was drafted by local communities, state leaders, and the Pioneer Valley Joint Transportation Committee.

They say that from 2020 to 2024, there were over 250 deaths on the road and just under 1,200 people seriously injured.

The Pioneer Valley Safe Streets Plan is divided into three categories: policy and process changes focused on revising existing road plans or adopting new ones, engineering countermeasures such as improving visibility and curb modifications, and non-engineering countermeasures to help improve road education.
