Pittsfield cancels 4th of July fireworks, announces other events

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Hopefully we’ll getting clear conditions for fireworks on the Fourth of July, but for Pittsfield, the weather won’t make-or-break their show — because it’s no longer happening.

On Friday, the city announced they weren’t able to book a vendor for this year’s fireworks.

There’s a full schedule of activities, so neighbors can still celebrate, a 5K race kicks the day of at 9 a.m. right before the parade steps off -- rain or shine in downtown Pittsfield at 10 a.m.

From noon until 3 p.m. The Berkshire Carousel on Center Street is offering free rides and face painting.

Then on Sunday, the 4th annual Pittsfield Parade Car Show at the McKay Street Parking Garage is slated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
