AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - UMass Amherst students received an alarming text message alert Wednesday night, stating that an investigation is currently happening on campus.

We have limited information at this time but right now we do know students here at UMass Amherst received a text alerting them that an active investigation is underway inside the Campus Center Hotel.

Western Mass News has reached out to UMass Amherst as well as UMass Police Department and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

At this time, we have not yet heard back from any of them with additional information as to what happened.
