Possible mortar round found in Conn. home, perimeter established

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - An Enfield, Conn. home has been vacated and a perimeter established after a WWII-era mortar round was allegedly found there.
Police said a complaint was received about a male subject who threatened violence towards workers at an Amazon facility.
They went to his home at 4 Lake Drive and took firearms from the home. Officers also found what appeared to be a WWII-era mortar round inside.
The house was vacated and a perimeter was established. Police said residents in the area can shelter in place or leave the area, however, there is no immediate reason to expect the munition to go off.
A bomb squad is expected to render the location and the possible mortar round safe within the next several hours.
