PVTA bus crashes into building in Springfield’s South End

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Just after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, first responders were sent to the area of 931 Main Street for a report of a crash involving a car and a PVTA bus.

Western Mass News was on the scene and saw the entrance to what used to be Milano Imports smashed in, as well as the front of the PVTA bus.

Springfield Fire Department spokesperson Drew Piemonte said that three people had to be transported to the nearby hospital with injures, which was both passengers of the car and the bus driver.

The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority released a statement saying they are cooperating with Springfield Police Department with the investigation. Based on initial reports, the driver of the bus was not at fault for the accident.

There are no further details at this time.
