Roads to be closed in Springfield’s South End for Italian feast

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Drivers in Springfield can expect road closures and heavy traffic this weekend as two major events take over downtown and the South End.
In the South End, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Feast is expanding after drawing 17,000 people last year.
Main Street from Williams to Margaret Streets will be closed from noon Friday through 7 p.m. Sunday, with the South End Middle School lot also part of the festival footprint.
Access to Winthrop Street will be limited to residents only, using Dale Street in the opposite direction.
