Route 33 to undergo major road work in the coming years

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Drivers on Route 33 through Chicopee and South Hadley can expect long-term road work as a major rehab project continues.
MassDOT plans to rebuild nearly four miles of Memorial Drive from the Montgomery and Sheridan Street area in Chicopee north to just past Hollywood Street in South Hadley. Work includes concrete roadway repairs and asphalt resurfacing, plus new sidewalks, curb ramps, and concrete at PVTA bus stops.
The project costs about $12.5 million and is expected to wrap up in the summer of 2029. MassDOT officials stressed this is separate from the Memorial Avenue work happening over in West Springfield.
