Southampton asks residents to limit water use during extreme heat

SOUTHAMPTON Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Town officials are asking for your help during this hot stretch, the water department is reporting extremely high-water usage this week.
They said high use is normal and expected during dry weather — but the numbers they’re seeing possibly indicate a leak in the distribution system, likely in an isolated section, since their inspections haven’t found anything of concern.
If you’re out walking, biking, hiking, etcetera, keep an eye out for any abnormal higher water flows in streams, brooks, and culverts. If you notice something seems off, contact the water department.
