Springfield Armory celebrates the legacy of a Revolutionary War hero

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - 2026 marks 250 years since America declared its independence, and local organizations are bringing the community together celebrate, and learn.
On Saturday, the Springfield Armory National Historic site is hosted a family friendly event in honor of Henry Knox. Knox was one of the founding fathers of the United States known for his expertise in military science.
The event will honor the “Noble Train of Artillery” a 300-mile winter expedition led by Knox, that brought captured artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston, an achievement that helped secure one of the Continental Army’s earliest strategic victories.
