Springfield firefighter retires after 30 years of service

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Springfield Fire Lieutenant Kelly Jones Senior has officially retired, spending the last three decades with the Springfield Fire Department.
A celebration to mark his many years of service was held in Ludlow over the weekend, he said the years he spent with the department were a blessing and recalled tragedies that he responded to and shaped the city to where it is today, “I can remember a lot of those catastrophes here in the City of Springfield and we worked every time to take care of the citizens of Springfield and just to see how resilient the city is and has become to recover from that, it was a blessing to see the city recover from that , it was difficult at the time but just to see the city recover from that was a true blessing.”
Jones thanked his wife and children for their support during these 30 years.
