Springfield Jewish Community Center kicks off Hanukkah

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Western Mass News would like to wish all who celebrate a happy Hanukkah.
With Sunday being the first night of the festival of lights, the Springfield Jewish Community Center held a community candle lighting. The festivities kicked off around 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon with latkes, a traditional potato pancake, and jelly.
People were then invited to participate in a local service project for Jewish Family Services of Western Massachusetts and write holiday cards to be given to JGS Lifecare. The event then moved outside for a candle lighting as they light the largest outdoor menorah in western Massachusetts.
