Springfield man arrested following police pursuit in Conn.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A Springfield man was arrested on Saturday morning following a police pursuit in Connecticut seven hours earlier.
Around 2 a.m., Connecticut State Police Troopers pulled over a vehicle reported stolen, arrested three occupants and recovered a loaded pistol. The alleged driver, 26-year-old John Cortes, fled the scene.
Two hours later, a man matching Cortes’s description was seen going through yards in Longmeadow.
Around 6:30 a.m., troopers contacted the Springfield Police Department. Three hours later, Cortes was detained on Wilmont Street near Forest Park.
He was allegedly in possession of cocaine at the time and has previous firearm convictions.
