Springfield police conduct quality-of-life park and walk sweep

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The Springfield police ordinance unit conducted a quality-of-life park and walk sweep on Friday, issuing dozens of tickets.
According to the police department’s website, the unit handles “illegal dumping, unnecessary noise, unregistered or abandoned cars, and basketball hoops on the street, sidewalk, or tree belt.”
The sweep occurred in the area of Commonwealth Avenue on Friday afternoon.
Forty-two violation tickets and three parking tickets were issued as well as 19 tickets by members of code enforcement.
