SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - An expo was held to empower families through access, engagement and opportunity.

Springfield Public Schools hosted the Family Expo Saturday afternoon, featuring a resource fair to connect families with local organizations and resources.

“We have over 80 nonprofits from across the community that have set up tables, it’s a resource fair from after school programs to community organization support groups and they’re all here to support families,” said Assistant Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools Jose Escribano.

Live entertainment, activities and raffles rounding out the event — followed by a brand-new family expo parade.

To end it all, Justin Hayes, an internationally acclaimed fashion designer who graduated from the High School of Science and Technology, was named the grand marshal.
