SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The Springfield Thunderbirds are making another big save off the ice, donating $28,000 to Rays of Hope from their ninth annual “Pink in the Rink” night.

The money comes from auctions of the team’s pink, game-worn jerseys and other fundraisers during the March 7 sold-out game at the MassMutual Center.

Team officials say the Thunderbirds have now helped raise more than $200,000 for Rays of Hope since 2016 with every dollar staying in Western Mass. to support breast cancer patients, families, and local research.
