Springfield Thunderbirds host annual Throwback Night
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The Springfield Thunderbirds took it all the way back to 1976 for throwback night at the MassMutual Center. The puck drop for the sold-out game was at 6:05 p.m. Saturday night and the Thunderbirds sported both their old name and their old jerseys. hockey fans loved every moment.
“Throwback night’s always a good night. Whether it’s the Indians stuff or the Falcons stuff it’s always a good time. A sell-out crowd’s not bad, breezy atmosphere, breezy energy, so let’s hope they can pull this one out,” said Chris Laboissiere, who’s one of the many Thunderbirds faithful fans.
The Thunderbirds put up a good fight, the leigh valley phantoms snagged the win with a final score of 3 to 2.
