SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - If your travels take you through Springfield, you might have to take a different route through downtown in the next few days.

On Friday, the Memorial Bridge will close at 11 p.m. To both cars and people, It should reopen around 24 hours later, at 11 p.m. on Saturday night.

Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Exits 5-A AND 5-B off I-91 South, Exit 5 from I-91 North will be closed as needed.

Lastly, around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police will start blocking off roads around Memorial bridge to prepare for the fireworks, starting at 9:30 p.m.
