SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A state representative is calling on Mayor Domenic Sarno to implement a grace period in connection with new stop signs near Baystate.

New stop signs in front of Baystate cause traffic terrors

The new signs were recently placed on Springfield Street, right outside of an entrance to Baystate Medical Center and they’ve been causing lots of confusion.

Many have driven through them without realizing.

Now, State Representative Carlos Gonzalez is calling on Sarno to implement a six-month grace period for any traffic fines associated with them.

He says warnings would better support drivers familiarizing themselves with the new signs.

Gonzalez is also calling for the installation of ‘Stop Ahead’ road markings and the trimming of trees in the area for increased visibility.
