PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The identity of a victim who was allegedly stabbed to death by a Springfield man has been released.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to 10 Hall Place for reports of a stabbing. Jesse Gray, 36, of Pittsfield, was found suffering from a stab wound to his left side.

Life saving measures were rendered but Gray later died from his injuries at Berkshire Medical Center.

An investigation found that 24-year-old Zyrus Jaynes, of Springfield, allegedly got into a fight with Gray outside of the multi-unit residence after Gray pulled into the driveway. Jaynes then fled the scene after stabbing Gray, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s office.

Jaynes returned to Hall Place residence the next morning and was arrested following witness interviews.

He was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without the right to bail.

Jaynes was also charged with assault and battery in two separate cases last summer. The DA’s office requested that he be held without bail but the judge denied it.
