Thousands of new housing units coming to 33 municipalities

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Plans to build almost 6,000 new housing units in 33 municipalities are moving forward, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced Tuesday.
This includes towns like Monson where a project is expected to deliver around 600 housing units.
Along with accelerating housing production, this initiative aims to lower costs and create vibrant communities.
This comes one year after launching the State Land for Homes Initiative which redeveloped underutilized state-owned properties into new housing.
