SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Possibly the sweetest day of the year has come and gone, the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast in downtown Springfield was a hit.

Main Street was blocked off from State Street to Bridge Street for almost twelve hours. Thousands of people turned out to try bacon and pancakes cooked specially by local officials and community leaders.

State Representative Carlos Gonzalez was one of them and said he was delighted to be honored as the first Latino to be named honorary chair of the event.
