HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Nearly 30,000 bags of heroin and fentanyl were taken off the streets thanks to a joint investigation into a drug trafficking organization.

On Thursday afternoon, a traffic stop on Appleton Street led to the arrest of 39-year-old Angel Oquendo of Springfield. Officials found around 15,000 bags of heroin and fentanyl in his car along with more than $800 in cash.

They then arrested two other suspects, 36-year-old Carlos Fonseca and 37-year-old Orlando Perez-Martinez, both of Holyoke on Linden Street. Police then found almost 15,000 thousand more bags and more than $1,000 dollars in a garage on the same street.

All three men now face drug trafficking charges.
