Three sentenced for attacks involving machete in Millers Falls

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Three people were found guilty and were sentenced after a 2023 incident involving a targeted attack and a machete, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office.
Two people from Greenfield and one from Turners Falls traveled to Millers Falls on Dec. 23, 2023 with the intent to attack a specific individual.
One of the three was armed with a machete at the time.
Brendon Collette, Jennica Chapin, and Xavier Chadwell attacked the victim before he ran into his house and then attacked an innocent bystander standing outside, the DA’s office said.
The victim was seriously injured.
“Violent acts like these have no place in our community,” said Chief of the Elders and Persons with Disabilities Unit Thomas Robinson.
Chadwell, 23, of Greenfield, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in the house of correction and two years of probation.
Chapin, 27, of Greenfield, and Collette, 27, of Turners Falls, were both sentenced to four to six years in state prison.
