Thunderbirds fans gather to watch playoff game against Penguins

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The Springfield Thunderbirds took on the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Thursday night in Pennsylvania for Game 2 of the Atlantic Division Finals. This evening, fans gathered at TAP Sports Bar downtown, to watch the game and cheer on the T-Birds together.
Director of Public Affairs at MGM Springfield, Beth Ward, told us why these watch parties are continually offered during the playoff run, “we have a long partnership with the Thunderbirds and every time that they’re in the playoffs and they do away games, we always invite people to come down here to watch the game because a lot of people can’t get the game on their home screen.”
But good news, the next game will be back home at the Thunderdome Tuesday May 19th.
The final score, 4 to 3 with the win locking in game four which will also be played here in Springfield.
