Traffic cone gifted to state leaders following World Cup run

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Representatives from Glasgow presented state leaders with a commemorative traffic cone on Tuesday to symbolize the bond between Scotland and Massachusetts during the World Cup.
It’s a Scottish tradition to place traffic cones in odd places and it has become a trend around Boston in recent weeks with the World Cup in town. It started back in the ’80s when Scottish students put an orange traffic cone on a statue in Glasgow.
The cone was removed but then reappeared, stirring up a battle between officials and residents before the people eventually won.
