WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Early Monday morning, a tree fell onto a car in Williamsburg while it was driving on Route 9, officials said.

Just before 6 a.m., a car was driving on Route 9 just west of Hyde Hill Road when a large oak tree fell across the roadway and onto it. The driver was not injured. They were able to exit safely as the only person in the car.

The driver was evaluated by an ambulance crew and a detour was established as officials worked to remove the tree and debris from the road.

Route 9 was reopened to traffic when it was deemed safe, around one hour later.
