UMass Football hosts its annual pro day training camp

AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - UMass football program hosted their annual pro day earlier on Wednesday afternoon.
Members of the Minutemen team along with some players of lower division schools performed in front of numerous NFL scouts, the New England Patriots included.
Wednesday was the culmination of months of intense training — to impress pro scouts and give themselves a chance to continue to play the sport they love at the next level.
“Definitely played a lot more receiver over here. They gave me an opportunity, thanks to Coach Harris and the UMass staff for, you know, taking a shot at me,” said senior wide receiver Jake McConnachie. I was getting good feedback, definitely. I’m hoping to get like a local day with the Jets or Giants from Jersey or a mini-camp invite, and just take it from there.”
The participants will now wait to see if their names will be called in this year’s NFL Draft. The draft will take place in Pittsburgh from April 23rd – 25th, and you can catch it here on ABC40.
