UMass hosts annual Dash and Dine 5k run

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The 15th Annual Dash and Dine 5k happened in Amherst on Saturday.
The event aimed to raise money for the Amherst Survival Center, which is an outreach to community organization that focuses on food insecurity in the area.
We spoke with Brandy Sullivan, the Meal Plan Manager at UMass, she said the Amherst Survival Center goes far beyond food, “they give healthcare, if you need a shower, if you need help finding a job childcare it’s not just about the food there’s so many resources provided through Amherst Survival so it’s nice that we’re able to contribute to their great program.”
She says the event is a major opportunity for students to give back to the local community.
