AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The UMass Police Department is investigating a report from a student, who said she was physically assaulted while walking on the sidewalk along Commonwealth Avenue near Boyden Gym.

Police said it happened around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The student reported that an unknown man walked past her on the sidewalk, then turned around and grabbed her from behind. She was able to get away, and the suspect ran off.

The suspect’s believed to have left the area in a blue four door sedan. He’s described as a man in his 30’s, possibly with a mustache. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
