EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A squishy toy is causing a stir in East Longmeadow and one local store is loving every minute of it.

Dozens of people skipped the cookout and gatherings this Memorial Day weekend, instead, they packed RedFive Toys and Collectables to get their hands on a new viral sensation.

“So when we opened our doors, we had about 100 people in line waiting, and we did not stop bringing people up and clearing the line until about 12:30,” said Monica Rushby, co-owner of RedFive.

They were all waiting for a squishy toy called a NeeDoh that comes in all shapes and sizes.

“They’re great stocking stuffers, and they’re just great quality squishy toys,” Rushby said. “But they did go viral due to TikTok, and it has been the one thing that everybody has been after. So it’s hard to get your hands on it.”

Rushby says the rush was unlike anything the store’s staff has ever seen and while she recalls one Pokémon drop leading to people staying overnight, the line this time was almost triple that.

“Just such a fun atmosphere here in the store that day,” she said.

While RedFive management doesn’t know exactly when they’ll have more NeeDoh back in stock, the community response has them looking forward to the next shipment.

“We’ve committed to our customers that we will do it again,” Rushby said. “So there will be another squishy Saturday coming soon.”
