ADAMS — Looking for a job?

The Adams town website lists a wide range of openings, from seasonal laborer positions in the Department of Public Works to the position of community development director.

Nicholas Caccamo, town administrator, attempted to fill the community development director’s position shortly after he arrived on the job in late winter.

While he interviewed three candidates at the time, he said he hadn't found the right fit.

“That’s a position that covers a lot of ground,” he said. “There were some limitations and it just made sense to recast that ad.”

Caccamo has posted the position for a second time on the town’s website with a salary range of $74,720 to $99,480. He’s hoping that the timing of this posting will make a difference with a stronger pool of applicants.

Donna Cesan has been serving as interim director on a part-time basis, having retired from the full-time position.

“I don’t recall the last time there was a full-time person in that position,” Caccamo said. “The other one is the finance director/town accountant. And that’s been posted. We’ve been doing interviews.”

Ashley Satko resigned from that position in the spring to take another job.

Adams is also in need of a fulltime police chief, as well as the administrative assistant to the chief after Ryan Poulton resigned in April.

Timothy Sorrell has been the interim chief after former Adams police chief Kevin Scott Kelley pleaded not guilty to three felony charges related to alleged improper billing practices.

Sorrell’s contract runs out June 30.

Caccamo said town officials have begun discussing how that role will be filled. He said he would be in consultation with Jay Meczywor, Select Board chair, about that process.

The town has also been without a fulltime building commissioner and is relying on Dalton’s building commissioner in a shared services agreement.

After Kelly Rice resigned as town treasurer/collector, the Select Board filled that post with Christina Satko. That left her job open for assistant treasurer/collector.

“We continue to do interviews, work through those processes,” he said.

The administrative assistant in the town clerk’s office is also vacant after the resignation of Sarah Lesure in April.

A part-time position in the library is also open after Christopher Martin resigned in May.

Tristan Frieri was recently ratified as the operational supervisor of the Department of Public Works. He had been the working foreman and replaced Tim Cota, who retired in April. That position is being advertised internally, according to union requirements. If filled internally, that could create yet another vacancy.

“It’s not ideal,” he said. “We’d like full staffing. We’d like to have that consistency, but we’re certainly getting by with what we have and we’re keeping the wheels of government moving.”

Caccamo said the postings abide by union rules, if they apply, and according to the town’s salary classification schedule for nonunion positions.

“Everything is posted with the grade and the step,” he said. “Hiring rates are usually commensurate on experience.”

At Wednesday's Select Board meeting, the board unanimously plugged another vacancy: Caccamo was appointed to be the town's director of public works. In recent years, the town has also appointed its town administrator to serve as public works director
