Water main break reported Sunday near Blackinton District in North Adams

NORTH ADAMS — A water main break was reported Sunday afternoon on Massachusetts Avenue near the Blackinton Historic District, while up to 10 inches of snow and subzero temperatures fell on the city.
At 9:30 a.m. Monday, North Adams Mayor Jennifer Macksey said no one was impacted by the water main break.
Ice is forming around the break, she said, and it will be addressed Tuesday as city crews are out shoveling snow off sidewalks and opening catch basins.
Macksey also said she was not aware of any power outages or heat issues in city buildings due to the snowstorm.
Crews who worked overnight will be going home at 11 a.m. Monday and the Department of Public Services will be working on opening sidewalks later during the day.
"We ask everyone to be patient," said Macksey. "This was a long, significant storm."
