WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A big night over in Westfield for local students and for the community groups helping them take the next step after graduation. CSF Westfield Dollars for Scholars will award a record number of scholarships to over 100 students on Wednesday evening. Westfield Dollars for Scholars is set to hand out a record-breaking $363,500 in scholarships to 137 Westfield students.

The scholarship awards ceremony will begin here at Westfield Middle School on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

the ceremony will begin with remarks expected from State Senator John Velis, State Representative Kelly Pease, and Westfield Mayor Mike McCabe.

CSF Westfield Dollars for Scholars is a local, community-supported scholarship organization that’s helped Westfield students afford undergraduate higher education since 1962.

The organization raises money and awards scholarships to students to help ease the financial burden of college. Organizers said they’ve now awarded nearly $5 million to more than 7,000 students, “all these students are so appreciative for these scholarships and our donors, many of which are on stage to make the presentations, are very thrilled to be able to meet the recipient of their scholarship. And that happens at the reception after our ceremony,” said President of CSF Westfield Dollars for Scholars Cynthia Neary.

Neary also thanked everyone who has donated to the organization over the years to help make the event possible.
