What Mercy’s acquisition by Baystate means for your next appointment

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - This week, Baystate Health and Trinity Health of New England announced that they have signed an agreement for Baystate to take over Mercy Medical Center — one of western Massachusetts’ most trusted names in healthcare.
So, what does that mean for patients, as of now if you have an appointment at Mercy Medical Center — don’t cancel it. For the thousands of people who rely on Mercy, the big question is: what does this actually mean for their next appointment?
The message from both hospital systems is very clear: don’t panic. For patients, this transition is designed to be seamless. You will continue to access Mercy and all its services the exact same way you do today. The goal is to make sure there are absolutely no disruptions to your care."
You will still be able to go to Mercy Medical Center for care.
They stressed that you’ll be seeing the same trusted team of doctors and nurses at the same locations you’re used to. Until this deal gets the official thumbs-up from the state, both Baystate and Mercy are still operating as completely independent companies."
Another question were seeing is whether or not this merger could mean more changes to mercy medical center’s maternity and newborn services.
