Williamstown election set with one contested race

Williamstown residents fill each voting booth as they vote in 2024 at Williamstown Elementary School.
WILLIAMSTOWN — Only one race in the town’s upcoming election will be contested.
At the May 12 election, voters will choose candidates for Select Board, library trustee, Housing Authority and Planning Board.
The last day to register to vote in the spring election is May 1. The last day to request a mail-in ballot is May 5.
Here are the candidates, according to Town Clerk Nicole Beverly:
Four newcomers will run for two open three-year terms on the Milne Public Library Board of Trustees: Janet Curran, Martin Mitsoff, Kathleen Schultze and Michael Sussman.
Two incumbent candidates and a newcomer are running for three open seats on the Select Board; two are for fresh three-year terms, while the third will fill the remaining year of the seat vacated by Jeffrey Johnson.
Incumbents Stephanie Boyd and Shana Dixon are running for reelection and newcomer Nathaniel Budington is vying for the rest of Johnson's term.
Incumbent Charles Stephen Dew is the only candidate running for a five-year post on the Housing Authority and incumbent Roger Lawrence is the only candidate running for a five-year post on the Planning Board.
After the elections, annual town meeting is scheduled for May 19 at 7 p.m. at Williamstown Elementary School. There, registered voters will decide on the town budget for fiscal 2027, approve Community Preservation Act spending and vote on other proposals like one that seeks to adopt the state’s Seasonal Communities law.
