SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A Springfield native is coming home and he’s bringing his world-renowned fashion designs with him.

Justin Haynes, who dressed the runways of New York and Milan, is opening a new studio for his “JUS10H” brand at Tower Square on Monday.

“To be where I was in Connecticut, abroad, to have stations there, you know, it was comfortable,” he said. “Some uncomfortable ground, familiar ground, but uncomfortable ground.”

However, Haynes is used to uncomfortable grounds.

His “JUS10H” brand has had great success, hitting runways from New York Fashion Week to Milan Fashion Week and allowing him to travel the globe. He called the Enfield Mall homebase for a while before its closure forced him out.

He then decided to return to the city he grew up in, and while it may feel uncomfortable, it’s definitely not unfamiliar.

“And it’s always great when individuals who are successful not only come back to the city of Springfield, but stay here with their roots,” said Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno.

While Haynes already has a community of supporters at home, the response still took him aback.

“Like, this was a huge, huge surprise,” he said. “And I’m honored. It makes my heart laugh.”

Those who know him say Haynes is more than just a designer.

“For someone who has received literally global and international acclaim...he’s just a humble young man from Springfield that has not forgotten about home,” said Bishop Talbert Swan II, president of Greater Springfield NAACP.
