Police reminds public to be vigilant over scam calls

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - An alert out of Worcester County that could save you money.
The Sturbridge Police Department said people are spoofing the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office name and phone number and falsely claiming to be sheriff’s employees.
These scammers reference arrest warrants missed jury duty, or other legal issues, and then demand immediate payment to avoid arrest. Remember, law enforcement agencies will never call you to demand payment, fines, gift cards, or personal financial information.
If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and do not provide any information.
