BOSTON (WFXT) - The mother of an 18-year-old woman found dead in a Boston home is sharing her grief and her determination to seek justice for her daughter.

Family members identified 18-year-old Yoseliani “Liani” Marte as the young woman found dead Saturday in a home in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston. Property records show the home is owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., but there’s no indication from Boston Police that the owners are tied to Marte’s death.

Police say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Marte died from a single gunshot wound, but her manner of death remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, Marte’s mother, Elenie Ocasio, is sharing her grief and her determination to seek justice for her daughter. She believes the 18-year-old’s death was a homicide and says she knows who may be responsible.

“This coward killed my baby. He put a gun to her head, took my baby in that house and left her to die,” Ocasio said.

She also questioned why no one called for help.

“Why not dial 911? Why not call mom?” she said. “They murdered my baby.”

Ocasio described Marte as someone who was full of life, compassionate and always willing to help others. She says her daughter was not suicidal and believes the truth about what happened will eventually come out.

“My daughter did not deserve this, and it’s all going to come out to light. Everything’s gonna come out,” Ocasio said.

A growing memorial of candles and balloons now lines the sidewalk near the home where Marte was found. Many of her friends stopped by Monday to pay their respects and remember her.

“You look at me right now, and I’m not shedding tears. I’m in shock,” Ocasio said. “I have not seen my baby. I have not seen her laid out yet. It has not hit me yet. I’m not grieving yet.”

As of Monday night, no one had been arrested or charged in connection with the investigation.

Police say they are waiting for the official medical examiner’s report before deciding whether any arrests will be made.

A spokesperson for Pressley’s office said neither Pressley nor her family were involved in the incident.

“I am devastated about the death of Yoseliani Marte, an 18-year-old with so many dreams ahead of her, her life cut short by domestic violence,” wrote Pressley on social media Tuesday. “I stand with our community and everyone who loved Yoseliani as we grieve this deep loss.”
