HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Thanks to Gary Rome Hyundai and Hyundai Hope on Wheels, $15,000 will be going toward cancer survivors in our region.

Rome presented a check Monday to the local non-profit ‘Each Moment We’re Alive.’ The network helps cancer survivors and their families throughout western Massachusetts by providing emotional support, connection, and resources for those facing life after treatment including mental health struggles, isolation, workplace re-entry, and loss of identity.

“I actually, I’m a three-time breast cancer survivor, so after my third diagnosis and I had a bilateral mastectomy, I was really struggling to move forward. Once you’re done with treatment, everyone thinks you’re all better and you go back to their lives, which they should, but you’re not quite feeling there yet and that’s when I met Cindy and she was just starting this program for survivors,” said Joanne Leary-Beaudry with ‘Each Moment We’re Alive.’

The founder and director of ‘Each Moment We’re Alive’ said support after treatment is often where the greatest need exists. Now, thanks to Gary Rome, they’re able to continue building their resources and outreach.
