7 people displaced by Westfield house fire
WESTFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A family of seven has been displaced after a fire in Westfield.
Westfield Fire Capt. Keith Supinski said firefighters were called to 7 Washington Street around 10 p.m. Sunday for a report of smoke coming from the basement.
When they arrived, crews found a fire in the basement. While high winds and tight conditions hampered firefighting efforts, they were able to get the fire under control in an hour.
No injuries were reported and the displaced family is currently staying with family in the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
