A well-being check in Chicopee quickly turns to drug & gun arrest

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- A wellbeing check in Chicopee turned into a gun arrest this Christmas morning.
Police were called to Chestnut Street around 5:15 a.m. that morning, due to reports of someone yelling in the road.
The man in question is 38-year-old Alfonso Ponce of Springfield. He was found nearby on Park Street walking in the middle of the street.
Officers say Ponce was tense and slurring his speech, all while trying to hide something under his left arm.
They searched him and found this gun along with what they believe to be cocaine.
He was then handed multiple charges.
