Aerial video captures rescue of missing 88-year-old hiker in Savoy
SAVOY, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Berkshire County man is safely back with his family, thanks to some help from the sky.
Mass. State Police said they, along with the Florida and Savoy Fire Departments, responded to a location in Savoy on June 9 after an 88-year-old man became separated from his wife while walking in the woods.
Emergency crews coordinated to conduct a ground and aerial search and they were able to locate the missing hiker and reunite him with his family after being checked out by EMS.
State Police released video from the search, taken by their Air Wing, Wednesday to show “the value of teamwork, specialized resources, and rapid response when every minute counts.”
