Amherst man sentenced following discovery of over 100K files of CSAM material

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- An Amherst man has been sentenced to four years in federal prison, after authorities say they found more than 100,000 files of child sexual abuse material, along with extreme violent imagery, on his devices.
Federal prosecutors say 31-year-old Daniel Tocci was sentenced in Springfield by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni. He had pleaded guilty September of 2025 to possession of child pornography.
A search of his Amherst home in November 2023 uncovered more than 100,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse across 5 thumb drives, plus over 10,000 more files on his laptop, including material involving toddlers.
Investigators say they also found disturbing images of deadly animal violence, along with searches about child sexual abuse.
Daniel Tocci was previously in federal custody on multiple charges connected to the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to the FBI’s Boston Division. His charges included:
He was pardoned by President Donald Trump on January 20th, 2025, among the approximate 1,500 other rioters.
Tocci will spend 4 years behind bars, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
