HOLYOKE — Representatives from Hyundai Motor America visited Holyoke Community College on Friday, July 17, to deliver a $10,000 check to benefit the college’s food pantry.

This is the fifth consecutive year Hyundai Motor America has donated to the HCC food pantry through the company’s Hyundai Hope Initiative. This year, Hyundai doubled its annual donation to $10,000, bringing their total contributions over five years to $42,500.

The annual donation adds to other gifts made throughout the year by local auto dealer Gary Rome, owner of Gary Rome Hyundai and a member of the HCC Foundation Board of Directors, whose efforts on behalf of HCC brought the Thrive Center and Food Pantry to the attention of the Hyundai corporate offices in California. Rome accompanied Hyundai officials to the check presentation ceremony.

Ben Ostiguy, Thrive Center senior programs coordinator, said HCC food pantry requests had more than doubled from 483 in fiscal year 2025 to 1,162 in fiscal year 2026, which ended June 30.

Hyundai Hope is Hyundai Motor America’s corporate social responsibility initiative that provides support in the area of health.

The HCC Thrive Center manages the college’s food pantry and provides services, such as food and housing assistance, that help address students’ basic needs.

SOUTH HADLEY — Girls entering second grade in the fall are invited to join Girl Scout Troop 65596.The troop meets in South Hadley every other Wednesday from 6-7:15 p.m. The registration fee is $111 and is active until Sept. 30, 2027. Financial assistance is available.

Girl Scouts is the premier organization for girls to learn about leadership, financial literacy, life skills, the outdoors, community service, science and technology. Girl Scout programming is customizable for all types of learners.

Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts serves nearly 6,000 girls in grades K-12 with the support of over 2,500 adult volunteers in 186 towns and cities in central and western Massachusetts.

Hampshire Regional High School notifies graduates of Williamsburg High School from the year 1966 that they may request to receive their permanent transcript. As the holding school, Hampshire Regional High School keeps these records for 60 years. Interested parties may contact 413-437-5582 by Aug. 28. DEERFIELD — As part of the Sunday afternoon concert series in Old Deerfield, Bella Voce will perform an afternoon of Broadway tunes and other songs this Sunday, July 26, at 3, in The Memorial Hall’s Music Room, 8 Memorial Street, Old Deerfield.

Bella Voce features mezzo soprano Lisa Woods, soprano Teri LaFleur and pianist Jerry Noble.

Tickets, available at the door, are $15 for adults, and $8 for seniors and students.
